A perfect solution for existing solar installations
AC-coupled solar battery storage with a hybrid inverter allows you to add a battery and inverter to your current PV system. It can be installed as an upgrade to an existing solar array or as part of a new installation.
Batteries store the electricity your panels generate and usually export to the grid. You can then use that energy at night, during the day, or during outages. In some cases, AC-coupled systems keep charging the batteries even during a power cut.
The big advantage: your current solar system stays untouched. Installation is easy with a hybrid inverter and batteries. Once the batteries are full, surplus electricity flows back to the grid as usual.
How AC Coupling Works
1. Solar panels: produce DC power, sent to the solar inverter.
2. Solar inverter: converts DC to AC, then sends it to the battery inverter.
3. Meter: tracks the electricity before use or storage.
4. Hybrid inverter (AC): converts AC to DC to charge the batteries, and reverses the flow when needed.
5. Batteries: store the energy until your home needs it.
This solution is ideal to optimize your solar usage based on real-time needs. The system is scalable and can adapt to different storage capacities.
Some systems can even charge at night using off-peak electricity, ready to power your home by morning. Depending on your electricity plan, you may benefit from very low rates overnight.
